Be Idle Free

Your Anti-Idling Action Plan

  1. Turn off your vehicle anytime you are stopped and not in traffic.
  2. Reduce warming your vehicle to at maximum 30 seconds. Drive your car slowly to warm your vehicle's moving components for the first 5 kilometres.
  3. Avoid using an automatic car starter.
  4. Use a block heater. If you plug your car in overnight, consider using a timer set for no more than 2 hours. Any longer, and you are just wasting electricity.
  5. Spread the word. Let family and friends know the negative side of idling or be a leader and start and anti-idling campaign at your school or work.
