Be Idle Free
Your Anti-Idling Action Plan
- Turn off your vehicle anytime you are stopped and not in traffic.
- Reduce warming your vehicle to at maximum 30 seconds. Drive your car slowly to warm your vehicle's moving components for the first 5 kilometres.
- Avoid using an automatic car starter.
- Use a block heater. If you plug your car in overnight, consider using a timer set for no more than 2 hours. Any longer, and you are just wasting electricity.
- Spread the word. Let family and friends know the negative side of idling or be a leader and start and anti-idling campaign at your school or work.
- Contact us at ecoDriver Manitoba for more information on how you can get more anti-idling resources as well as "Healthy Communities Don't Idle" signs for free.
