How comfortable are we in using poisonous chemicals on our food?

Our choices for pest control in gardens (including weeds, insects and fungi) affect the water, air and soil quality of the area immediately around the garden as well as the larger environment.  Not only that, there is mounting evidence that synthetic chemicals used in pest control pose avoidable risks to human health.  On the other hand, safe, effective and natural pest control methods are readily available and often don't even cost anything!
